he Hippies during the 60s were portrayed to be lazy kids who can't be trusted with anything. But the truth is that they helped America become what is today by spreading peace and love. They fought racial inequality, they helped start an ecology movement that raised awareness about pollution, and they heavily protested the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War is our time to spread our message of peace and love even more by protesting a war we should have never gone in to. With the increasing of the draft to 33,000 people a month we are outraged and we will not stand by while our government make poor people fight a rich mans war. Our Government has tried to feed us the lie of guaranteed victory but with the heavy casualty reports coming back; it will be harder for the man to get away with his world domination plans. We have also started the ecology movement, which we will protest to keep the world clean and stop national pollution of lakes, the air, and deforestation of natural areas. We will support the ecology movement and live by a green lifestyle by bringing awareness to pollution. To show our love for the earth we will walk barefoot, wear flowers in our hair, and grow our own food. We will not be oppressed by large corporations anymore so we will promote biodegradable products, and to use natural ingredients from fabrics to sorts of shampoos. The National Environmental Policy Act made April 22nd the national Earth Day which raised awareness to the public about how humans are treating the planet, and how to treat future dangers that may come. But when President Kennedy tried to get his civil rights bill through, it had failed and we were devastated. With the civil rights gone for now the we hippies built our own communities all over the nation. These communities of hippies didn't get very popular and soon failed. But by the end of the 1960's new laws were put in to place helping the blacks which was heavily due to the help of the hippies.
